文学部
国文学、国語学、歴史学、考古学、民俗学の専門的な知識とその意義を理解し、それら諸学がもたらす知見を自らの人間性を高める糧とすることのできる人材を育成することを目指します。
We aim to nurture human resources who understand the specialized knowledge and significance of the studies of Japanese language, literature, history, archaeology, and folklore, and are able to achieve personal growth through the studies.
国文学国語学科
次のような知識や能力を備えた学生に学士（国文学）の学位を授与します。
①論理的に思考する力を身につける（思考）

歴史文化学科（2019年度以降入学者）

歴史文化学科（2018年度入学者まで）
歴史文化学科では、歴史学、考古学、民俗学に関する幅広い知識を身につけ、日本と世界の歴史および文化に対する理解を培い、各自のアイデンティティを構築できる能力を身につけた人材を養成します。各専攻では専門知識と技術をもとに、資料を調査し分析して得られた自らの知見を、論理立ててわかりやすく表現し、議論の展開できる能力を身につけ、これらによって広く社会に貢献できる人に学位を授与します。
In the Department of History and Culture Studies, students acquire a broad knowledge of historical studies, archeology, folklore studies, cultivate understanding of the history and culture of Japan and the world, and we will train human resources who have developed the abilities to build their own identity. In each major, based on expert knowledge and skills, we will award a degree to those who can widely contribute to society through developing the ability to express their own findings obtained by investigating and analyzing the materials in a logical form and understandable manner.
歴史学専攻（2018年度入学者まで）
歴史学専攻では、以下の能力を身につけた人材を養成します。
まず歴史学に関する知識を背景に、自らの属する社会の成り立ちを理解する力をもつとともに、異文化に対する洞察力をもつこと。これによって、現代日本に生きる者としてのアイデンティティを構築することができます。
次に、史料を調査・読解して知識を獲得し、それに基づいて論理的に思考すること（思考力）、思考を言語化して正確に伝え、討論を通じて議論を発展させること（コミュニケーション能力）、解決すべき課題を自ら打ち立てること（構想力）、自分の知識と主張を他人に理解できるように構成・提示して発信すること（表現力）。これらは、社会の中で主体的に生きていくための基礎となります。
さらに、歴史教育や文化財保護などに携わることのできる専門的な技能を獲得すること。これによって、専門的な分野で社会に貢献することが可能になります。これらの能力を身につけた人に学士(歴史学)を授与します。
In the History Major, we will train human resources we will present a bachelor degree (History) to those who acquire the following abilities.
First of all, with background on historical knowledge, to have the power to understand the formation of society to which they belong and to have insight into different cultures. By doing this, students can build their identity as a person living in contemporary Japan.
Next, to think logically based on investigating and understanding the historical materials to acquire knowledge, (thinking skills), to communicate accurately one’s thoughts by language, to develop arguments through discussion (communication skills), to establish by oneself the problems to be solved (conceptual skills), to organize and present knowledge and assertion so that others can understand it (expression skills). These skills will be the foundation for living autonomously in society.
Furthermore, to acquire professional skills that can engage in historical education and cultural property protection, etc. This makes it possible for students to contribute to society in specialized fields.
考古学・民俗学専攻（2018年度入学者まで）
考古学・民俗学専攻では、以下の能力を身につけた人材を養成します。
まず考古学・民俗学に関する幅広い知識を身につけ、日本の文化と歴史、異文化への理解を培うことによって、各自のアイデンティティを構築することができます。
次に、考古学・民俗学に関する専門的な知識を学び、資料の調査・収集・分析を行うための技術を習得します。またそのプロセスを通して、自らの課題を筋道立てて明確にする構想力、論理的に考えることができる思考力、自らの知見をわかりやすくまとめる表現力、議論が展開できるコミュニケーション能力を養います。
こうして得られた専門的な知識・技術と総合的な能力を基盤として、文化財や歴史に関する教育普及活動のみならず、広く社会に貢献することが可能となります。これらの能力を身につけた人に学士(考古学・民俗学)を授与します。
In the Archeology and Folklore Studies Major, we will develop human resources and present a bachelor’s degree (Archaeology and Folklore) to those who have acquired the following abilities.
First, students can acquire a wide range of knowledge on archeology and folklore studies and build their own identity by cultivating an understanding of Japanese culture and history as well as foreign cultures.
Next, students will learn expert knowledge on archeology and folklore studies, and acquire skills to investigate, collect and analyze the materials. Through that process, they will develop nurturing skills to clearly define their own tasks, thinking ability to think logically, expressive skills to comprehend their own knowledge, communication skills to develop discussion.
Based on the expert knowledge/skills and comprehensive abilities thus obtained, it will be possible for students to contribute not only to cultural properties and history education spreading activities but also to society as a whole.
